This is an educational video created by the Federal Reserve Bank to explain what they do. The Federal Reserve is the Central Bank of the United States of America.

WHERE THE BANKERS BANK was created to accompany THE MONEY TREE, an instruction unit produced by the St. Louis Federal Reserve and the MIssouri Council on Economic Education at the Universities of Missouri-St. Louis and Columbia. Created in 1913 by the enactment of the Federal Reserve Act (signed by Woodrow Wilson), it is a quasi-public (government entity with private components) banking system that comprises the presidentially appointed Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C.; the Federal Open Market Committee; twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks located in major cities throughout the nation acting as fiscal agents for the U.S. Treasury, each with its own nine-member board of directors; numerous other private U.S. member banks, which subscribe to required amounts of non-transferable stock in their regional Federal Reserve Banks; and various advisory councils. Since February 2006, Ben Bernanke serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Donald Kohn is the current Vice Chairman (Term: June 2006 - June 2010).
